01The idea
A Sunseeker Manhattan 66, kept at Marina Puerto Aventuras between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, with Cozumel across the channel. Six owners share her. A captain and mate run her. You fly in, step aboard, and go.
Six owners share one boat, held by a single-purpose Florida company. Your seat is registered in your name. One person may hold two.
Every owner gets 45 days a year, 22 of them in high season. You pick your dates in turn, and the order moves round every year.
A licensed captain and a mate keep her clean, serviced and fuelled, and they know the reef. You never need to lift a line.
02The boat
Sunseeker built this generation of the 66 from 2017 to 2021, then replaced it with the 68. The photographs show Lucky Bet, a 2019 boat and the reference for every figure on this page. If she sells first, another boat of the same generation takes her place.

Home is Marina Puerto Aventuras, right in the middle of the Riviera Maya. Reefs, turtle bays, island towns and Maya ruins are all within a morning's run, and Belize is one long day to the south.

04Your days
High season here runs from 20 December to 30 April: 132 days. Six owners with 22 days each is exactly 132, so nobody holds more of the best weather than anyone else.

How the pick rotates
Owners choose their high-season dates in turn. The order turns by one seat a year, so every seat picks first once in six years and gets first choice of Christmas once in six years, never in the year it picks first.

+How the six of you run her
Each October, every seat picks its high-season dates in turn, one block at a time. The order moves round by one seat every year, so everybody reaches the front — and gets first choice of Christmas — once every six years. In year one, the order follows the order seats were reserved in. Outside high season it works the same way, then it's first come. Bad weather and any unplanned yard days come off everyone equally.
Unclaimed days go to any seat that wants them, at short notice, for the cost of fuel — they don't carry over into the next year. A person holding two seats gets two picks in the order and ninety days a year. Family and friends can use your days without you, named at least 48 hours ahead and covered by the insurance. The one rule with no exceptions: nobody ever pays for a trip, not even a share of the fuel.
Every owner gets a monthly statement of money in and out, with the actual bank statement attached — not just a summary. One owner, chosen by the group, has direct read-only access to the account itself. The yearly budget is approved by seat vote, and it's the budget that sets what everyone pays each month. Nothing moves through the manager's own accounts at any point.
September is her yard month: hauled out for the year's service, so nobody loses a high-season day to maintenance. A full-time captain and a properly qualified mate run her the rest of the year, employed through a registered crew company and paid above the local market on purpose. Between trips they maintain her, provision her and keep her ready — and their time is available to any owner at cost, first booked, first served.

Boats with absent owners are where shared-boat stories go wrong. Ours has someone who notices a fender rubbing on a Tuesday.
A full background and references come before any deposit. Just ask.
07Your money, protected
Escrow, in plain English: a neutral, regulated firm in Florida holds the money in a trust account, in US dollars, and can only release it when written conditions are met. Nobody at Frigate Yacht Partners can touch it.
You wire a refundable reservation to the escrow account, never to the manager or the company. It holds your seat for 60 days, and you can have it back on one email.
Your reservation goes to Escrow.com, a California-licensed escrow company founded in 1999, which holds it in trust; at closing the seat money passes through a Florida yacht-closing firm's escrow account.
Every seat is taken, the survey and sea trial have passed, the ownership and import paperwork is complete, and an insurer has agreed to cover her. If not by the agreed date, refunds start automatically.
The refund promise, word for word
“Your reservation deposit is 100% refundable at any time before the escrow-release trigger, no questions asked. If the offering does not complete by the long-stop date, refunds are initiated automatically — processing benchmark next business day, funds back in your originating account within 5 business days. Deposits are held by the escrow agent and are never available to the organizer's operating account.”
Money in escrow is held in trust and the firm carries professional cover; it is not government-insured. Bank wire fees and the currency exchange spread are not refunded.
08Questions
The questions people ask first. The full terms answer the rest, and you have them before any deposit.
No. A licensed captain is aboard every time she leaves the dock. You are welcome at the wheel with him beside you.
Yes, with or without you, and with the captain as always. Name them in advance and they are covered by the insurance. The one rule: nobody ever pays for a trip, not even a share of the fuel.
Then nobody buys a boat, and every reservation is refunded automatically by the escrow agent.
It is planned for. September, the peak of the season, is her yard month. Before a named storm the crew follow the insurer's written plan, and a storm reserve is built into the seat price.
Charter is welcome. Four of the six seats can vote, once, to open one shared door: a single licensed Mexican operator, one insurance position and one set of calendar and wear rules. After that, each owner decides for himself whether to charter his own days — never another owner's — and keeps what is left after the fixed charges. An owner who never wants to charter pays nothing and gives up no days.
Yes, at any time. Your co-owners get 15 days to match the price you have been offered, then there is a waiting list. There is no fee to anyone, but finding a buyer can take time.
The owners vote: sell her and share the proceeds, or carry on. If you want out while the others stay, your seat is bought at an independent valuation. Boats lose value, so expect to get back less than you paid.
Realistically three to six months after closing. That covers the crossing from Florida, her Mexican import permit and a shakedown on home waters.

The Manhattan 66 is the first boat, not the only shape this takes. Nothing is bought until enough people want the same thing. When they do, it is bought the same way: ownership registered in your name, a full-time crew where the boat needs one, one monthly figure, and a written exit.
A bigger share
A quarter, a third or a half of this boat instead of a sixth. Fewer owners, more days: four owners at a quarter each is about 67 days a year each. The seat price and the monthly figure scale with the share. Formed only when the shares add up to a whole boat.

Bigger or smaller, sail or power, a different home marina. Any boat that can be berthed, crewed and insured properly. Say what you would use and how often; when enough people want the same boat, it is bought and run the same way.
